It is crucial we stay connected. This is especially since there are stay-at-home orders in place and as we continue to social distance. Hosting a virtual party is a good way to stay connected. Here’s a few tips for success from Premier Glow.
Choosing A Service
There are several services you can choose from. A few include:
. Facebook Messenger– You can use Facebook Messenger for desktop, which makes it easier than ever to stay in touch with loved ones. Top highlights include chat sync, large screen and various multi-tasking options.
. Zoom-You can meet virtually with other people with this video conferencing service. Zoom is well known for it’s quality and usability. However, if you want to host meetings longer than 40 minutes, then you’ll need to upgrade to a Pro Account.
. Skype– Skype has been around for a longtime. It allows you to video and voice chat with others. You can use your computer, mobile device or tablet.
. Google Hangouts– This is software from Google. You can bring conversations to life via group video calls and photos. There’s also a two people video chatting feature.
Setup Your Surroundings & Device
Your camera should be leveled with your eyes. Don’t worry if you don’t have a stand. Instead, you can use a stack of books or a box.
Also, don’t get extremely close to the camera. Cameras on both smartphones and webcams are wide-angle. Furthermore, make sure you’re not blocking out the light. If you do, you won’t be clearly visible on camera.
Themes & Activities
Setup a happy hour or encourage others to bring a dish to the virtual party. Another thing you can do is watch a TV show or a movie together. Afterwards, you guys can share your thoughts.
Having a game night is a good idea, too. You can even encourage guests to dress up. The possibilities for ideas are endless.
Not seeing our loved ones in person can be disappointing. However, at least we can host and/or attend virtual parties. You might be surprised at how fun a virtual party can be. Just make sure you keep the above tips and advice in mind.
